OVERVIEW

Outdoor Pursuits is a sector of the Ball State Recreation Department specializing in outdoor gear and trip leading. Outdoor Pursuits were looking for a way to interact with their audience on their Instagram and Facebook pages. As trips were canceled for the Fall semester of 2020, alternate outdoor options were needed to keep the patrons of Outdoor Pursuits interested in wilderness activities.

RESULTS

Feature Friday posts were created for the Outdoor Pursuits page as a way to get people interested in the outdoors. Each post was designed to give a specific location nearby with an interesting outdoor attraction. This icon set was created to quickly let the user know what each attraction featured, in the way of specific rules, activities, and costs. The five icons include trails, camping, boating, state parks, and pet walking. These are shown at the top of the screen and streamline the user’s interaction with the posts. These icons were built using squares and rectangles, which created a cohesive style and structure throughout the set. To soften and naturalize the icons, their edges were rounded and highlights were added for dimension.
